Assessor Quoting System

Introduction & Help

If you are new to the ITS Quoting System, you may find it beneficial to look over this page and find out about some of the new features we have introduced in this new version. Whilst some of these features may seem advanced, we believe that you'll find them useful and will aid you in creating quotes quickly and painlessly. The following guide should help you if you are having any difficulty using the site. If this page doesn't answer your question, please feel free to with your query, or call us on 01223 420101.

Changing your Password or Personal Details

To change your password or personal details, first go to the My Account page (this can be accessed from the Assessor Quoting System homepage, shown when you log in, by choosing the 'Change your details or password' link). The text input boxes should be filled in with your current details (except your password). To change any of the details, simply edit the text input box.

Screenshot: changing your password To change your password, enter your existing password into the first box (labeled 'Old password'), and then enter a new password into the two textboxes below. The 'repeat' password box is to confirm you have typed your new password correctly (and haven't made a typing error you weren't aware of).

Screenshot: changing your default contact If you have previously entered a set of contact details when saving a quote, you may also edit or delete these from here. To select which set of details you would prefer to be your default for new quotes, select the radio button for that set. You can delete or edit a set of contact details using the links next to those details.

Once you have made the changes you wanted, you can save them by hitting the 'Update my details' button.

Changing the size of text on the site

Text resize icons If you are finding the size of the text on the website is too small to read, in addition to any interfaces for increasing the text size your browser may offer, you can use the icons at the top right of every page to increase (or decrease) the size of the type.

The left-hand (smallest) icon can be used to reduce the size of the text on page, the middle icon (with a lightning symbol) can be used to reset the text size to the default and the largest (right-hand) icon can be used to increase the text size. Note that when you are logged into the Quoting System there will also be a fourth icon on the far right; this can be used to log out from the quoting system.

Computer Suitability Icons

We appreciate that for assessors, often the task of keeping up to date with the latest technological advances can be overwhelming. Sometimes you just want to know what computer is suitable for a given task, rather than work out if the processor clockspeed is fast enough, or the display resolution on a particular notebook computer is high enough for visual impairment software.

To make the quoting process simpler and easier, we've added a system of suitability icons to the site, accompanying every computer system we sell. With these icons you can tell — at a glance — whether or not a given system is up to the task you need it to perform.

Configuring a Computer System

Screenshot from the Configurator The Configurator is the biggest part of the new Quoting System, and puts all the options for upgrading a computer system quote at your fingertips. It comprises of five sets of options, or stages:

  1. Customise the computer system
  2. Choose peripherals
  3. Add software
  4. Add consumables (recordable minidiscs, memory cards etcetera)
  5. Add optional services (training, on-site setup etcetera)

Popular Products

As there are a large number of products available on the ITS Quoting System, it would be easy to be overwhelmed by the sheer choice and variety of different product solutions on offer. In order to streamline the selection process, we've picked out those products we feel are the most popular within each category and hidden the rest from immediate view. However, these 'hidden' products are still available, and can be accessed with the simple 'Popular Products' icons at the top of each product category listing within the configurator. Here is what the three different icons do:

Popular products: icon for showing just popular items Show only Popular products. This is the default view for product categories, and only shows those items categorised as popular.

Popular products: icon for showing only selected items Show only selected products. This view will hide all products except those you have added to your quote so far, reducing the amount of information being shown on-screen. You can use this to hide categories you have already selected all required products from.

Popular products: icon for showing all items Show all products. This view shows every item within that category, regardless of popularity. Use this to show 'hidden' products which are less frequently requested.

Note that if you add items to your quote, then choose Recalculate, or if you go to Save Quote before returning to amend your quote, then any items you have selected will automatically be displayed, regardless of whether or not they are 'popular'. If you find that there are items you regularly quote for which aren't listed as popular, please feel free to and let us know your thoughts.

Skipping Ahead

The skip downwards iconIf, in the process of configuring a new quote on the Configuration page (mentioned above), you find you don't need to make any alterations or add any items for a given section (for instance, Peripherals), then you can skip to the next section using the downward arrow icon link next to the current section heading. This won't take you away from the current page, but will just move you further down.

Enabling Session Cookies

The ITS Assessor Quoting System makes use of a technology called session cookies, which some users or system administrators disable because of security concerns. Cookies are often maligned as they can contain personal data which may be unsecure and accessible to sites other than the originator. Session cookies are somewhat safer, in that the only piece of information they contain is a unique reference number which relates to a particular set of data being securely stored on the website's server.

In the case of the Assessor Quoting System, session cookies are required in order to track your login credentials throughout the site, and you will be unable to log in if they are disabled. In order to enable session cookies, you may need to go through one of several different steps dependent upon which web browser you are using.
