Infovox iVox naturally-sounding voices installed free on your Mac

Info iVox Reading text documents on a Mac with OS X or higher operating system has just got better. Considered to be "the best voices ever on the Mac", you can now listen to text read aloud by high quality British voices Graham, Lucy and Peter. These naturally sounding voices can be used in conjunction with a large number of Mac educational products for example Read and Write Gold, ClaroRead and Kurzweil 3000. All three voices are supported by the Mac operating system so can be used in any Mac application which is speaking enabled, such as VoiceOver, text-to-speech, Preview documents and the talking calculator.

These high-quality voices will be pre-installed, at no extra cost, on Mac desktops and notebooks when distributed with assistive technology from iansyst.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10

Dragon NS 10 Box Nuance have released their latest version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 speech recognition software which promises a 20% increase in accuracy on version 9.

Documents and emails can be created three times faster than typing simply by using your voice: you can surf the web, dictate and edit Microsoft Word documents; use Excel and most other Windows-based applications with improved and shorter voice commands. Nuance have also developed improved support for regional accents.

The Furniture Range Expands

Herman Miller Aeron task chair To further enhance our comprehensive quoting system more furniture has been added to the price list. These include the Herman Miller Aeron Task chair which adapts naturally to fit people of all sizes and postures. The chair takes the weight off the lower spine with its long, wide, contoured back and its unique weave reduces the heat levels normally experienced by foam chairs. The soft arm rests are sloped in the front for maximum comfort.

New Mid Summer 2008 Price List for ITS

The price list for Mid Summer 2008 contains several new products and lots of product updates which are written about in more detail below. Although it is with regret that we have to announce an increase of £15 on the cost of our 3-hour training session, bringing it to £240. We have managed to peg the price at £225 since October 2005, but rising fuel costs among other expense increases over the last few years have made this change unavoidable.

Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate Edition

iansyst can now offer Office Ultimate Edition for the same price as Office Professional. The benefit of Ultimate is that it comes bundled with OneNote. OneNote gives you the ability to record notes electronically much like you would with pen and paper; you can capture images, webpages, audio, video etc, and then store it for later use. Best of all it is fully searchable. To get the most out of OneNote we would recommend the addition of a Wacom Tablet which is available with an educational discount.

ITS Desktops Updates

iansyst have revised models in the mid-range sector to offer more power, storage and value. The ITS Storm now has an improved processor, 320GB hard drive, faster graphics performance and new styling. We are now using Intel-branded motherboards in the Breeze and Storm which will allow for a much more stable platform to build on for both reliability and consistency.

Both models retain Wireless connectivity along with Gigabit Ethernet for super speedy university connection and 56K modems. XP home is our standard installation option but Vista Home Premium is a no cost option and can now be selected from the ITS quoting system. With the introduction of the ITS Breeze we can offer all of the advantages of the Storm but at a reduced specification. Both models continue to support 80 PLUS certified power efficiency which can save up to 21% of total electricity use. Prices from £519 + VAT

Toshiba Satellite Pro Notebooks

Toshiba have revised the entire range of Satellite Pro notebooks, now offering 3GB RAM as standard on some models and all Satellite Pros are now available with either Vista Business or XP Pro which is selectable on the ITS quoting system. The entire Satellite Pro range is now officially Energy Star compliant.

Large Print Mac Keyboard

Since the release of OS X 10.4 (Tiger) the Mac has been blessed with some very good accessibility applications under its Universal Access brand. To complement this iansyst have introduced a range of Mac specific high-visibility keyboards. Based on the Apple Pro keyboard they are available in either USB or Bluetooth versions.
